The Build · Sarovyn Team · A defining moment from the Roller Skate Detroit chapter that helped show what was possible when skating, culture, and civic visibility met on one stage.

Before Sarovyn had its name, the standard was already being built.

In 2024, during one of Detroit’s biggest national moments, Roller Skate Detroit was invited into the energy of the NFL Draft Experience. It was more than a visibility play. It was a signal that skating, culture, and curated adult experiences could belong in places many people never expected to see them.

Through Somerset Collection’s activation in the heart of downtown Detroit, Roller Skate Detroit provided roller skating brand ambassadors for the 2024 NFL Draft Experience presented by Rocket Mortgage. For us, that moment carried weight. Detroit was welcoming one of the most watched events in sports, and our skaters were part of how the city expressed its style, motion, and personality.

The draft brought national attention to downtown Detroit, with an economic impact projected in the hundreds of millions. For local businesses, it created real opportunity. For Roller Skate Detroit, it created something else too: proof that what we had been building was bigger than a session, bigger than training, and bigger than nostalgia.

Our skaters were not there as background decoration. They represented discipline, presentation, and the cultural texture that has always made Detroit distinct. Rolling through the city during a major national event, they helped bring a different kind of movement into the experience. It was polished, local, and unmistakably ours.

That matters because Roller Skate Detroit was never just about teaching people how to skate. It was about building spaces where adults could reconnect with themselves, move with confidence, and experience joy in a way that felt intentional. That same foundation continues today through Sarovyn.

Moments like the NFL Draft activation helped sharpen the vision. They showed that skating could hold its own in premium environments. They showed that our work could move across industries. And they showed that Detroit’s skating culture deserved to be seen as part of the city’s broader story, not separate from it.

That chapter also connects directly to what came next. The same care, creativity, and leadership that shaped those public-facing moments would continue to grow into larger opportunities, including When Roller Skaters Became Referees at the 2024 NFL Draft in Detroit.

Looking back, this was not just a proud moment for Roller Skate Detroit. It was part of the road to Sarovyn. A reminder that long before the brand evolved, the vision was already in motion.

Detroit was on the clock.

So were we.
